Croatian House has been opened in Shenzhen on 16th of April 2013, situated in Kylin Villa, representative government residential complex where Presidents and Prime Ministers of Foreign government delegations and top Chinese officials are staying during their visit to Shenzhen. This, as project of highly importance for Croatia, was funded by the Croat of Chinese origin, President of the Center for Development and Cultural Exchange between Croatian and China, Ms. Liu Liying, which last year opened a Croatian house in Ningbo.

Zagreb Sports Association delegation visited Beijing. In the framework of established successful cooperation signed the extended cooperation agreement with the Bureau of Sport of Beijing city for a period 2013th to 2014th. The contract covers the cooperation in the field of sport training and preparation of sports that are of interest to the individual parties, the exchange of experts - trainers, cooperation in the field of sports medicine and appearances at tournaments. According to the contract, living expenses, sports facilities, medical care for athletes, professional services and equipment expenses will be covered by host and travel expenses will be covered by the guest. The signing of this important document opens major new opportunities in professional sports cooperation with China, one of the sports world’s superpowers.

The High-level Symposium on the UN Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD, or Rio+20) took place from 7-10 September 2011 in Beijing, China. Croatian tennis players Marin Čilić, Ivan Ljubičić and Ivo Karlović had a small but strong fan support among the staff of the Croatian Embassy and a small group of Croatians working in Beijing during the tennis tournament China Open 2009. The best placement was attained by Marin Čilić. By defeating Nikolaj Davidenko, the eighth seeded player in the world and the first tournament winner and the second seeded Rafael Nadal, he reached the finals. Following this tournament Marin Čilić ranked 13 on the ATP list.

Military parade with far the greatest number of civilian and military participants was held on 1 October 2009 to mark the 60th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China. Along the main street and at the large Tian'anmen Square in the heart of Beijing fifty-six phalanxes, consisting of 8,000 servicemen and women, nearly 500 tanks, missiles and other military vehicles and 151 warplanes, joined the parade. Shown were 52 types of weapons produced in the People's Republic of China, including the most modern nuclear missiles.

During their stay in Beijing on 17 and 18 August Speaker Bebić had four official meetings. He met with his host Mr. Wu Bangguo, Chairman of the National People's Congress and with Mr. Jia Qinglin, Chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference. Speaker Bebić was also received by Minister Wang Jiarui, Head of the International Department of the Communist Party of China and Mr. Hua Janmin, Vice-Chairman of the National People's Congress. All interlocutors thanked Speaker Bebić for a very successful visit by President Hu Jintao to Croatia in June, reiterated their friendship and high degree of political trust, the importance of regular exchange of visits, especially among the parliamentarians and political parties, and pledged their support for realization of concrete cooperation projects. Special emphasis was placed on economic cooperation, with a focus on attracting Chinese tourists and investments to Croatia, including into the projects of transportation and tourist infrastructure.

President of the People's Republic of China Mr. Hu. Jintao paid an official visit to Croatia on 19 and 20 June 2009. Besides his host, President of the Republic of Croatia Mr. Stjepan Mesić, he met with the President of the Government of the Republic of Croatia Dr. Ivo Sanader and the Speaker of the Croatian Parliament Mr. Luka Bebić. This was the first visit ever by a Chinese president to Croatia and, at the same time, to one of the successor States of the former Yugoslavia.
